Ok, 3rd time now in the last 12 months my 7245 has selected reverse by itself and stayed there due to the lazy detent.

Once again, in a really bad spot. After pulling all the floor up (I'm getting quick at it now) I have pulled the detent spring out and stretched it to make it stronger, but I have heard for years now about a mod that is done to stop it happening.

What is involved in this mod?
I'm really growing tired of pulling that damn floor up!!

there is a kit you can weld on top of the main gearbox housing to aid in aligning the shift selector on the slots, and there is another mod: Grind a slot crossover through the floor tunnel, so you dont have to take the floor out when prying the selector back through the detent hole.

Ixer or Alzet perhaps know the part number for the mod kit.

Hi

The mod kit part number is TL3262. I've fitted quite a few of these and have had no more problems, as it's impossible to move the gear lever across until the gear you're in has gone back to neutral.

My 7045 gear shift has behaved well but also will need a kit at some point I suspect.

Renze your suggestion of a slot is neat. My tunnel had been chopped about a bit no doubt to get at the detents. A slot would have been better.

Along with the bodywork slooowly getting attended to I have modified the floor to give easier access to the gearbox top as well as under floor either side.

Stronger spring fixed mine...... so far.....,
however it would be a quick and easy mod to (carefully) drill the detent hole in the shaft a little deeper ..... about 1mm deeper would do the trick, with a drill about 1-2mm bigger than the ball.
should be able to drill this down through the detent holder hole without taking the top off the gear box.

They seem to know when to get stuck, it's always in a bad spot when you're busy trying to get something done!!

is there any picture of these part? I cant found it here in germany or cz ...

Hi all, 8 years since anyone posted to this thread but here goes..
does anyone know where I can purchase one of these kits from? I'm having trouble locating on line. cheers
