Im interested i buying an older Zetor 4x4 approx 100hp , is there a best model for power but reliability being most important. I have a 8011 1976 about 20years and a 5545 which ive had for about 40 years in the time when most locals had fordson majors and they said dont buy a zetor there rubbish and you will have trouble with the front axle , well both tractors were brilliant and still are , so i have no hesitation in buying another but i dont understand the horse power an 8011 is approx 80 hp but what hp is a 8045 , or a 12045and i think there is a 10045 probably got the numbers wrong but im sure you know what i mean, do i need to look for any thing in particular on these models that might be a problem. any ideas of pricing

the 12045 is 120hp 6 cyl 6.8litre with a 16f 8 r gearbox. the zetor crystal tractors were built by zts as you probobaly know. the 4wd models used a front axle manufactured by universal tractors of romania. the rear axle was then produced by ursus of poland. now i have been told that ursus did make some cockups whilst producing the crystal range their castings were not always perfect and zts were having trouble assembling the tractors because things were not lining up. the tractors themselves were pretty bombproof though there tinwork did suffer slightly from rot. there is also a zetor 10045 this is a cyl turbo engine 4.6 litre with the same gearbox as the 12045. they did also make a 18345 but i have never seen one of these. but i dont really have anything bad to say about them.

i have a 3545 and i was told i would have trouble with the front axle. the bearings onthe input shaft had gone but i changed these and shes fine.

The same front axle won WW2 in the GMC Diamond (?) trucks, and was used from army surplus stock on Renault, Ford, IHC, MF and other tractors.

8011 is approx 80 hp (some say 85HP). 4 cylinder. 4.562 litre.
8045 is the same engine thus same HP but 4WD

10011 is 100HP. 4 cylinder. Adding a turbo to 4 cyl engine.
10045 same as 10011 but 4WD.

12011 is 120 HP. 6 cylinder. 6,843 litre.
12045 is 120HP and 4WD.

16045 is 160 HP. 6 cylinder. Turbo. 4WD. Rare. 1st gear N/A in gearbox due to torque output of engine.

For the 12045 price, I estimate E6,000 or $10,000 should buy a decent example.

the 16045 eat 1 st gear. im looking for a veruy rough 8011 or c -385

Hi , I could`nt find a zetor heard of 3 but they just seem to dissolve as soon as i tried to reach them, so ive found a ford tw10 with recon engine 110 hp seems good allround non turbo 6 cylinder , dare i ask any opinions? its an 82 i gave 4,000

Good solid tractor. Main thing to be certain about is Anti-freeze. use at least 40% ethylene glycol type inclusion in the coolant as these engines were prone to internal block corrosion

Thanks for that a very importaint point and good to know, thanks Dave. is there a ford forum?

Those ford engines do like a drink, and the transmissions eat their shafts on heavy use.... ;) Oh wait. a TW10 has the antwerpen built rear end which is heavier than the Basildon rear end used in the 8210...
