Hi all,
I have a query about my 1977 5718. Earlier in the year after many months of difficulty starting and low power the tractor refused to start. A mechanic looked at it and advised that the injector pump needed to be reconditioned. The pump was sent off to be reconditioned and when it was refitted there was trouble getting the tractor. Eventually after a couple of hours of my mechanic fiddling with the tractor it started (badly) but it was very smoky (white smoke). The mechanic said to give it a good day working ant that that should free out the rack.
However after 4/5 weeks the tractor was still smoky and unless I have it well opened up (high revs) when trying to drive it the tractor just dies when any load comes on it. I have replaced the lift pump as the old one was leaking but there has been no change. I have also noticed that diesel seems to be mixing with the oil as the oil level is increasing and is getting very thin. Also the tractor starts better when the cold start button is pushed in...
Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem may be and more importantly what the solution may be?
Regards
