Hi, I would appreciate any information to do with changing/cleaning the engine oil filters on a Zetor 6045. I would also like assistance with fixing the speedometer on this tractor.

I have a operator's manual for this tractor and it directs me to clean the centrifugal oil filter and oil pump suction strainer. However after having looked at the pictures in the manual and what's under the tractor's hood it's clear my tractor does not have the centrifugal oil filter. I only have a air filter cannister where it should be. I am wanting to change the engine oil on this tractor but want to know what is required for the engine filters as well.

The speedometer on my 6045 also does not work. The needle is stuck half way along the gauge range. I have removed the dash and looked behind the speedometer and seen that it only has four electric cables going into it, so realize it must be electric. So would like some DIY advice on how best to fix it. I have been told the cables from the speedometer run to a plug located under the water pump into the engine casing.

Thanks in advance

hi you do have a sentrifugal filter it located at engins frunt right hand corner right behind front weel,it stands uppward open the
bolt on topp ,innside you will find the setrifugal thisalso neds to be opend and clennd

Thanks Gunnar7211, I located the centrifugal oil filter after reading your reply. I opened it up and cleaned it as directed by the operator's manual - with diesel. It was certainly full of gunk! I then dried all the bits and pieces and reassembled.

Now for cleaning the oil pump suction strainer it says in the manual "after draining old oil remove engine housing bottom guard then disassemble oil pump suction strainer and clean in petrol or diesel. Fix duly dried suction strainer back onto the pump, lock it against loosening and put bottom guard on engine housing with sealing compound. Retighten firmly fixing bolts". Is the pump suction strainer easy to identify? as I have looked online and found out what the oil pump looks like. What sort of sealing compound is best to use on the engine housing bottom guard?

I am having difficulty finding where my electric speedometer cables connect into the engine casing as my speedometer is not working still.

In the operator's manual it specifies the lubricant "Litol 24" for using on things such as the "front wheels hubs" and "water pump" so what is a comparable lubricant to "Litol 24" as I have neither heard of or can find this lubricant.

If anyone is wanting to get their hands on a free operator's manual for a Zetor go to this link http://www.cals.cz/zetorservice/zetorservice.asp (where you can download one). Choose what language you want it in at the top of the page along with the series, type and engine to filter through to the manual you want.

HI
Unles your traktor has not hadd oil changed for several years I would not bother to diasemle oilpan to clean the strainer.
The rewcounter is wired to a sensor in front end of the camshaft, you will se it betwean the alternator and waterpump.
Litol24 i gess is old fashion lead inhanst grease whiths you will not find today, however any moder grafit grease will do. Sinse your tractor is four whel driwe your hubs is oil filed.

Thanks Bjarne for the advice. I think my sensor has been removed as yesterday when I was looking for where the speedometer cables should connect to the engine between the alternator and water pump all I could see were four small bolts which held a small rectangular metal plate in place on the engine. I removed the alternator to get better access and then removed the plate to see what was behind it. There was use a small round hole which was obviously access to some shaft. Is this where the sensor was meant to connect to the camshaft?

I will remove the oil pump suction strainer as soon as I have acquired the right type of sealing compound for the engine housing guard. My reason for doing so is based on the gunk I found in the centrifugal oil filter, how black my engine oil is and the fact that until recently this 6045 has been neglected.

The repairs I have done so far on the 6045 are restrengthened the battery storage case (as was badly rusted), made steps for the right side of the cab (as they were missing), welded up the holes in the exhaust muffler, rewired up the wiring between the starter motor and electric fuel pump so the ignition key works correctly (young stock had come along and chewed the wiring when it was sitting out in the paddock), replaced the external alternator with a internal alternator (as the external had died), replaced three missing windows on the cab with clearlite (side, small front and lower back window), made front and side grills (as they were missing), replaced missing right headlight and connected up a radiator overflow bottle (as it was missing).
