Despite reading both the operator and workshop manual regarding the oiling of the injection pump I can find no reference to an oil level plug, only the fill and draiin plugs. Am I mising something here? I know the system takes 0.2l SAE 10/30 but this assumes an accurate measuring can!

Tom - I know you have been through this learning curve, can you advise?

Hi Mike

on the Motorpal pump on my 1977 Crystal 8011 the fill plug is on top of the pump. This plug is actually marked "Oil"!

There is a horizontal mark about half way on the pump beside which is the level plug. This is not marked.

The drain[/] plug is on the bottom of the pump. I removed the fill and level plugs to let air in and then removed the drain plug. Replace the drain plug and add oil through the fill plug until it starts to flow out through the level plug. Replace the level plug, then the fill plug and you are away!

See the post I started on November 24 2003 "Engine races - intermittently - whilst on tickover or low revs". With a lot of valuable input from our Zetor friends, this enabled me to overcome my injection pump problems.

I imagine your pump would be something similar. I wouldn't worry too much about overfilling the pump with oil. Oil is less wearing on the pump than diesel.
