info ZTS 18345 4-step powershift

Was the ZTS 18345 export to other when they were new? I have only ever seen ZTS up to 14245 in Ireland.

Were they 4 speed powershift, or were they 2 speed powershift plus two mechanical splitter gears, so you could also powershift from 2H to 3L ?
They are a rare beast but i dont think they ever had a 4 speed powershift...

The current range should have incorporated extra powershifts rather then just changing the ratios those old Zetors where very practical and under rated still love how just like the Newholland TM the pto pack was easy to get at

No, it would add nothing, the 3 step powershift is a good entry level gearbox, and a 4tH powershift step could only be sold for the same price, its a bad investment.

What Zetor needs is a 6 or 7 step powershift with 4 speed ranges, that would be a mid-level gearbox option that would make it easier to sell the advanced hydraulics of the HD models. Putting electrohydraulics on a base spec transmission is like polishing a turd: Some Zetordrivers will like it, but anyone who compares it to a 20 year old TM, will buy the TM because of the RangeCommand gearbox.

Serial produced 18345 was 2 speed powershift. This prototype have 4 speed powershift

Ah, a prototype ! That explains it! I was puzzled by this video, the four indicator lights make it assumable that it is indeed a 4 speed powershift but i know they never offered that...

Someone in Poland searching parts for first generation prototype of this 4 speed powershift gearbox:

ZTS 18345 with second generation prototype 4 speed powershift gearbox:
At the time these were built (before 2002) a 32/32 or even 32/16 transmission with 4 powershifts would still hold up against the competition.... They had the same problem Zetor has 20 years later, their sales channels collapsed so they couldnt build them for a competitive price anymore.

Man.. such an awesome machine!
Are these water-cooled as well, or are the big monsters air-cooled?
Why would they be air cooled ? Only Slavia milled down the crankcase of a Zetor block to bolt air cooled cylinders to it, Zetor never built air cooled engines themself.

See that, this 18345 rear axle has SUBSTANTIALLY bigger planetaries and crown gear. Thats good because even at 140hp the UR2 axle would break the pinion shaft out of the housing.
Its still a big mistake that HTC didnt buy the remains of ZTS to make these 144/16445 under Zetor name alongside the 11741, for the time being. The sooner ZTS would have forgotten about competing with Zetors 4 cylinders and instead join them, the better their chance of survival would have been.
A UR3 six cylinder should have replaced the UR4 engine in front of the HSX transmission with the Forterra cab, from 2007 onwards.
The HSX of 2012 should have come 5 years sooner and then become a transmission of 120-200hp with the 24 valve UR3 six cylinder, 4 cylinder with the UR3 axle, and 150-200hp with overdrive transmission and the UR4 axle.
Then today they would have had the economy of scale to finalise their DSG prototypes.

Really interesting to see what ZTS had in the works, certain building blocks for future use, and interim six cylinder offerings that could have put Zetor in a much brighter position today...
