Lever won't move out of pto only. I have dug into it and still have not figured it out

I have this exact same problem with our 3320, except it is stuck in neutral without either PTO or hydraulics and so my tractor is currently unable to move (because the loader bucket is edge down in the grass).

I've got the deck floor plates off and I'm looking at the top of the transmission, but I've never opened up a transmission before, so I'm a little intimidated.

most probably some rust on the levers pivot shaft. use WD40 and tap it, then fiddle till it starts to move.

Hi- Thank you for your reply- I wish it were that simple. The gear moves from Neutral to +PTO (which never worked) but will not move forward one more gear to PTO only where it previously ran the PTO and tractor at the same time.

It had become progressively harder to keep it all the way forward in this gear- cutting out while mowing, and needing to be restarted with power take-off. Every time this third gear seemed to be closer and closer in distance (and a little to the right) to the 2nd gear. I was keeping my foot on it so it wouldn't hit a bump and pop back into the +PTO gear, until it finally became unable to put all the way forward at all.

Is the rollpin holding the lever on the shaft, still in reasonable condition ?

I haven't opened it up yet. Do I need to drain the transmission fluid to get to it?

On my 3320 it would not go past the PTO only which is all the way toward the seat I have the top of the transmission off the pump out of the bottom of the differential and the top of that section off as well. I removed the number to PTO shaft out of the rear and the sleeve that slides over that shaft stayed in which is what controls the PTO and hydraulics from that selector will not move but just a little bit I'm a pretty technical person and can fix generally anything if I have the information but I cannot find very detailed information on how this part works in this transmission

Any ideas? This thing is driving me crazy. Lol. Can anyone tell me how/what exactly the switching lever does for each position?

So you took it all apart ? So you have no opportunity to test the obvious first. Does the lever move whilst the retainer bolt is unscrewed ? Its in a row in front of the hi lo and pto levers. On my 3011 i had to put a washer under it so it wouldnt stick too deep, the retainer ball didnt clear enough on the shift rod.

Yes I already checked that the sleeve that the number 2 pto shaft goes through that that shift lever controls will not move just a little bit so I have went through every piece all the way down to where I'm at I am just not for Milyer with how it shifts internally between each selection

Hi, I have been reading your posts with interest, as I am having a similar problem with my 3320. I can't offer you any help with your problem, but you seem to be really proactive in tearing into it. Have you made any progress in finding your problem? I and probably other forum readers would be interested in hearing what you have done, as it may be a common problem/solution to PTO/Hydraulic lift problems. Don't give up until you fix it or render it ready for the salvage yard. Skip
