Howdy...out mowing brush the other day...5211 started slow..hasn't been used since last fall...warmed up and started mowing...everything fine...got into a low area of the pasture...turned and the tractor just died...tried to re-crank and nothing...called my local dealer...he said battery field problems...I had already had those problems so went to work...took off the engine ground..cleaned and wired brushed everything...same with battery terminals...put the key in...all dials showed on...pushed the clutch in...hit the starter button and everything went off again...moved the key around...nothing...got out my circuit tester showed fire to starter and alternator...any ideas?...thanks...

I think the battery +12v cable goes directly to the starter. check the connection at the starter.

check the connections in both ends of both battery leads...if that dont cure it suspect the battery itself is past it.... a several hour charge may revive it .. will it crank over with jump leads from another vehicle?

does sound like you have another problem aswell battery/starter problems wont make the engine die once its running... sounds like you have a fuel blockage aswel.
