In previous post I think I made a wrong statement--anyway--lever all the way forward I have PTO and hydraulic lift..lever will move toward rear one click and no PTO and no lift...Have to put lever all the way forward(pto in gear) before cranking the tractor-otherwise grinds when you try to move the lever forward and will not go in forward position..Cranking tractor with bushhog means blade is turning as you turn over the engine--you cannot crank the tractor then put the pto in forward position--not good...Tractor is basically no use till this is resolved..Thanks for any and all help. When u pull the pto disengage lever it pivots the L-shaped bracket underneath the tractor and pushes the rod forward as it should. Thanks for help...
Studied it a little more--going to try adjusting the lower end of the pto disengage cable to see if it will push the disengage rod a little further..also I see that the "rod" has another hole in it-might try connecting the pivot point of the rod to that hole and see what happens.
With the pto lever fully forward the pto should be out of gear leaving just the hydraulics working. If it's still driving the weld is breaking inside the top cover.
The pto linkage is adjustable on a left and right handed thread turnbuckle. You need about 2 or 3 mm of free play at the linkage where it goes into the bell housing.
Where is the turnbuckle you speak of--I see a turnbuckle adjustment on the right side-looks like it would be for the positive lock differential...from inderneath you can not come close to seeing where the PTO lever comes through the floorboard..All the way forward the PTO spins and cuts grass knee deep with no problem.Back toward rear one notch and PTO stops and no lift..Is there a site or page or anything anywhere to see anything(pages from service manual) about this old tractor..Low hours-paid only $1000 for it but this issue really needs fixed .. Really need help with this... Thank You.
