6718 Brake bleeding

I've read most, if not all, brake bleeding topics on this forum and i have both manuals for the tractor.

I found a nut really deeply set next to the nipple but there doesn't seem to be a way to get a socket onto it (i bought a deep socket set).
Alternatively, the manual does seem to suggest that you put the hose on the screw that you loosen?

How does one do this?

Its either a 9mm or an 11mm thing. pipe socket works, but ive used an offset wrench too.

a cranked ring spanner on the nipple and a bit of 6mm plastic pipe pushed on., as above its an odd metric size 9 or 11 cant remember which.

yeah i got a 9mm deep socket located over it.

I'll be a suitable spanner, ok thanks

I have a leak on the brake line, it seems to be from the flexible hose right beneath the reservoir. So maybe the crimps have rusted and loosened or the hose itself has degraded.

I tried looking on James barlows parts site but couldn't see anything specifically for that section.

What would be a suitable replacement hose, i guess i can use jubilee clips, or similar?

Using a deep socket i managed to loosen the nipple, and then i can use my new brake service spanners (extra long neck) to loosen and tighen with a hose over the nipple.

I tested this on the left hand side
BUT!

My hydraulic quadrant is right in the way on the right, how much of a big deal is it to remove the quadrant?

any thoughts about the quadrant obscuring access to brake bleeding?

For future reference the quadrant does obscure access to the brake bleed nipple on the RHS, however by undoing the three nuts on the outer quadrant piece you can move it out of the way and get access

in this case,,, the curved bit of metal beside the hydraulic levers.

generally,,, part of a circle.

Ah i see... well i never took anything off it. Not even when bleeding brakes.. The cab frame tube would more likely be in the way. Do you use a deep socket wrench or a standard ?

Sorry Renze, i think that is what it is called generally in this country
The LHS was tricky enough, i don;t know how you'd manage the RHS without making some space.

I used both a deep socket and a cranked spanner (in fact from a set of brake service spanners, like this but cheaper )Brake service spanners[/]
The socket to crack the seal and then the spanner in conjunction with the rubber hose so open and close for actual bleeding

I took off a wheel when it got ugly. When you dont have to work on a long arm reach, you sudddenly get by much better with standard tools....
