6718 pto

Hi,hope someone can help ! I have a 6718 which I use to drive a post peeler. I have been useing it on a 1000 pto for a time now but it has started jumping out. I fear it might be a big problem. Does anyone have any idea as I know very little!!

does the 540/1000 jump out of gear or the main PTO selector ?

540/1000, its the lever under the seat that jumps out. Big job?

How far do you twist it from 540 to 1000rpm ?? a full 180 degrees ?

I push the lever as far to the right as it will go.
