question Zetor 5211 questionon hydraulic fill and oil filter fill

Bought an old 5211 zetor 5211. The pictures in the remake of the book are terrible. My brother help me replace one of the hydraulic cylinders. The other one starting leaking really bad. There was a creamy fluid coming out of the cylinder. He said there was water in the hydraulic fluid that I needed to change that. So I drained what I thought was hydraulic fluid out. It was the same creamy color. Another person comes along and says he thinks the filter that I drained out was the oil.
At this point I am petrified.
When my brother was here. I looked in the book and I thought the book said the hydraulic hole filler was on the floor. When I looked back it said oil filler. We put one 5 gallon tub through the hole in the the floor.
I went back to the book and I am totally confused.
The friend I was telling you about found a plastic container up at the top when you open the hood. on the left and side front. He said that it smelled like hydraulic fluid.
It is getting really cold here and I am worried about the hydraulics freezing. I am In Texas. Judy
P.S. Where is the oil filler and oil drainer. Also what the heck is in that big container at the front. Judy

gearbox oil and hydraulic oil is the same on this tractor. you drain it by a plug underneath the gearbox. you fill it by a filler With a dipstick located between the main gearlever and high/low lever, you open this With a large flathead screwdriver. if Your tractor has a cab its covered by a round rubber cap in the floor. the gearbox takes about 27 liters of oil 32 if you have a loader installed. this container you talk about is it infront of the radiator? if it is thats the powersteering reservoir. there is also a little plastic container under the Hood infront of cab that holds brake and clutcfluid,

all my knowledge comes from even older models . Zetor 6711 is the closest , all the mechanical bits are similar but its an older cab with no floor.

anyway youve got several hydraulic/oil systems and its not totally clear which one youre playing with.

first off theres the engine oil same as on a car ..the oil is either brown or black depending on how new it is, so well discount that.
a couple of gallon tank at the front of the engine near the radiator will be power steering oil.

the tractor gearbox and back axle oil is used for the hydraulic lift arms on the rear and any loader , trailer tipping pipe etc, on the 6711 the oil filler and dipstick is on the top right front corner of the gearbox , just about under the corner of the dashboard just inboard of the brake pedals. presumably on a flat floor cab theres a small access plate in the floor, on my crystal its two ten mm headed bolts to remove the plate.

theres also the braking system , there a cup sized plastic reservoir with a black screw on cap somewhere in close proximity to the brake pedals which feeds the two brake master cylinders under the floor beneath the brake pedals.

Drains are in logical places (engine oil drain is on motor oil pan, transmissiondrain is lowest point under tractor almost directly below fill area) only thing im not 100% on is engine oil filter location shown in first pic but im sure someone can clear that up

just to Clear Things up. in the first Picture of the engine oil filters,you have a single filter cannister just to the left of it in the Picture. thats the Return filter for the hydraulic oil. the one you marked hydraulic filter on Your Picture is a magnet With a screen around it wich you clean every 50-100 hours. the Return filter you change every 1000 hours or so. Also the engine oil filters you clean in diesel and put back. but DONT mix them up. take one at a time to make sure you get it back to the right location. they look alike but one is coarse and one is fine.

Thanks for the clarification Forterra. the pics ive posted are from what i could find on the internet. I cant recal if my 5211 has the hydraulic return filter.

the 2 series all have this filter donny so Yours has one too

also there is a filter in the powersteering tank that you should change every 1000 hours. unscrew the nut under the fillercap and take lid of the Box to get it out.
